The question always seemed so daunting whenever I was asked this in parties or at gatherings. The other one that equally sends me into a wormhole is “where are you from?”
When I read Austin Kleon book in “Show your work,” I knew I had to come here write it down, and introduce myself to you all!
You see, after several years of hosting semi/private blogs about my life, my struggles, mistakes, work, etc. this blog is the one that is going to be released to the world publicly and I want to answer this question and perhaps introduce myself to you!
The answer to “What do I do?” is: I am a creative person.
I am an architect and urban planner during my weekdays and illustrator during weekends.
Generally speaking, I like to use my creative skills and problem solve for everyday living. I have welcomed the idea that I probably am a serial hobbyist too, jumping from one new interest to another, and learning to keep my life interesting. My hope is to inspire my son to lead an interesting life.
The challenges I face professionally has led me to explore the bigger picture and life concerns through my creative practice. There is an inherent connection between my creative practice and my professional work.
It have been working on the symbiotic nature between my profession and hobby in which my creative soul can thrive. It has its own advantages and disadvantages, but that is for another post perhaps.
My life has been similar to an assorted mixed tape of music, producing many nodes shooting off in various tangents, but the playlist has an assorted variety of a fun, foot-tapping dance number to a soft jazz number.
I live in suburban California, as an Indian immigrant in the San Francisco Bay Area region. I go weak in the knees if I hear about my home city and forever muse Bengaluru, South India’s treasure and Karnataka’s capital city.
Namaskaara ree!
